ZazHub - What is ZazHub and How Do I Get the Most From It?

Wednesday, July 22, 2009
Like any new idea it takes a little help to figure things out. I have been on FaceBook for several weeks now and, like ZazHub, there's a lot going on and a lot to absorb. The more I use it the more comfortable I get and the better return for my time invested. And, like FB, ZazHub has some obvious and less obvious ways to help you. Over the next couple days and weeks I will help you get the most from ZazHub - the true community.

The best way to think of ZazHub is it is like: CarFax meets LinkedIn meets Craiglist and a “virtual glove box” all rolled together. Today, more than ever, we all need to get the most from and for all our stuff including our cars. ZazHub is a place to do just that by archiving everything for your car such as, service events (they are very easy to input), associated receipts, documents, photos, video – anything and everything about your car and then share it similarly to other social networks. ZazHub adds another dimension to social networking - your vehicle, to form a new kind of social network!

Getting started:
1. Sign up or Sign in. After which you will want to build your personal profile to level you are comfortable with. It would be great for you to add a picture of you or your car and anything that interests you. I mean, I like the little race car guy but.... The more you put into it the better people with your same interests will be able to connect with you.

2. The site is set up so the "public" stuff is across the top tabs and your personal stuff is in the black control box on the left.

3. Add a Vehicle Profile. Unlike virtually any other S.N., ZazHub lets you be identified by YOU and also by your Zaz (car). This begs the question - Now why would I do this? Well - People have a lot of stuff (look at how many storage places there are these days) and for many of you your cars are the largest or second largest financial investment you'll ever make. Then think about the true "community" you live in. You ask questions, give and get advice, give and get services and buy and sell things from people near you and these days around the world. That is what a true community consists of. ZazHub is the best possible reflection of that "true" community on the Internet.

4. Few things in a true community are free and in order to get the most from ZazHub you don't need any money (cuz it's free) but you do need to invest some time. Start with the Service Log which is located in the gray bar blue font in the My Zaz page. The more info you can get into the service log the better. If you don't want to go all the way back in time entering your info try to at least add the most recent services and associated receipts. The from here on it you can begin to grow the ZazFile. Better to start now than never get started. Be sure to only make Public those items you want to make public.

That's a great way to get started with ZazHub. So play around on the site - add a video or photos and if you need your car serviced check out the Service Pros page. Stay tuned for my next blog.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Joel Zaz Petersen
