Fiat's Family of Fine Cars on Display in Detroit
Sunday, January 3, 2010
Fiat will be displaying all its U.S.-market brands together at the North American International Auto Show, mixing Ferrari and Maserati with Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep, according to The Detroit News. In the past, super premium brands had their own section at shows such as Detroit but, with this move, Fiat is hoping to boost foot traffic through the displays of its new, more mundane offerings. As reported earlier, Fiat will also be showing a Lancia Delta tricked up to look like a Chrysler as well as an electric-powered Fiat 500.
Will it help? Well, it couldn't hurt. Both GM and Ford have grouped all theirs brands together at car shows for years. The subtle, but far more important, message with the Fiat move is that Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep are just more brands under the Fiat umbrella and no longer free-standing American products.
